Unity Hospital: "7/22/24 Was having severe pain in my chest and upper stomach area. Called my doctor's office and was told to go to ER at Unity. When I arrived, 3 staff members at window were talking to me and one of them took my blood pressure 3 times while I stood at the window with my arm hanging down. She said my blood pressure was 204/100 and then told me to sit in waiting area. Then she came back and did an EKG. Then another nurse did a blood draw. Each time I was directed back to the waiting room. After a while, they took my BP again while I was seated in the waiting area between 2 other people. It was 201/100.I asked if they could do it in a more private area and was told there were no private areas. After that, I waited over 2 hours and no one seemed concerned about my BP so I decided to leave. My BP has never been higher than 130/70. By then it was 11:30 AM. Another lady told me she had been waiting since 1:30 AM. I went to my doctor's office nearby. They did another EKG and my BP registered as 140/70. My insurance company was charged $1800 for the ER visit and nothing was done. I understand that BP over 180 is a serious emergency but apparently not at Unity." - Mary
