Tennova Healthcare: "BEWARE of Tennova: Took my hubby to ER bc his toe was infected and the infection was traveling up his leg (scary) they immediately started him on Vancomycin (strongest antibiotic available) the first day they removed 1/2 of big toe gave him pain meds. He went unresponsive and nobody would listen to me, I told everyone that something was wrong!! Day 2 evening shift, I was beside myself concerned and finally got an awesome nurse to listen. She called in the doctor who was useless to say the least but thank God the doctor who checked him into the hospital was beside the useless doctor as she was dictating, the ER doctor came to check on him and they rushed him to ICU. I didn’t find out for hours that they had to Narcan him to bring him back, during the ordeal he had 2 strokes. He went from working 40-50hrs per wk in auto parts & a volunteer KCSO office to being confined to a wheelchair and on disability. It’s so sad!! AVOID THIS HOSPITAL!!" - Jess

Tennova Healthcare: "2nd trip to ER in the last 3 months reveals excellent care and excellent staff and nurses. I have not been admitted in many years, about 20, since my kids were born here. It needs a good cleaning and not soon enough. Also, my Dr. Was not very knowledgeable or helpful re:. My diagnosis and future treatment plan, and sorry he needed a shower." - Patricia

Tennova Healthcare: "My husband was a patient at the St. Mary's location on March 24-25, 2016 for a shoulder replacement surgery. While scheduling the surgery and pre-op testing, we found out that Tennova was no longer "in network" for Cigna Insurance. After much negotiation with Cigna, they agreed to treat the surgical procedure as "in network" due to the time consideration involved if my husband had to find another doctor. We have been dealing with billing issues since that time. What it has all boiled down to is that Cigna did pay at the "in network" rate, however, Tennova has refused to bill the required pre-op blood work and X-rays as part of the medical procedure, which amounts to a double charge and has likewise doubled charged us for surgical items that are considered a part of the surgical procedure cost. The doctor's office had assured us that the pre-op testing was part of the surgical procedure.

Obviously our insurance will not pay for double charges and we are now faced with the choice of paying an ADDITIONAL $1755.00 or not paying, having it turned in on our credit and paying subsequent civil litigation fees.

As of now, we have entered into a payment plan for the double charges.

I am sending you this email to let you know I will be sharing this experience with KOC so that I can urge them to give their patients other options besides Tennova and I will be sharing it on the different on line rating sites for area hospitals for people to consider when choosing a hospital."
