Memorial Regional Hospital: "I suffered a ruptured appendix resulting in gangrene. The nurses on surgical floor 7 north, as well as the CNA’s and orderlies were fantastic. I was in the hospital for almost 3 weeks and had several complications including collapsed lungs and veins. My surgeons said it was one of the 5 worst cases they had seen, I was in surgery for over 7 hours. Unfortunately I developed pancreatitis from one of the meds and was forced to return to the ER the day after I was discharged. I was extremely frail, emancipated, and barely had energy to speak. The triage nurse in the ER was awful. She insisted on questioning me in a very noisy are which required me repeating almost every answer. She was rude and abrupt and I feel she looked at my appearance which was ghastly after what I endured and pegged me as drug seeking. The ER doctor seemed to have the same attitude, based I’m sure on her observation. No one seemed to connect my visit to my hospital stay even though I had literally just been released the day before. When the test results showed pancreatitis, he came in and with a booming and jocular tone said “It’s pancreatitis!” As if they were wagering as to what the results would be. When I asked how that would have occurred he asked if I drank heavily! I told him to check my records as I had just gotten out of the hospital, I’m not and never have been a heavy drinker,!and in fact had nothing had any alcohol in almost 2 months. It was extremely insulting, denigrating, and unprofessional. My gastroenterologist was finally able to trace the onset to one of the heavy antibiotics that had been prescribed and could have killed me. Though this occurred a couple years ago, the memory has stayed with me. The hospital should do a better job of training and policing their staff. I did not deserve to be treated like a drug addict or alcoholic when my chart was readily available to all involved. Frankly, the triage nurse and ER doctor deserve censure for their action and attitudes " - Susan

Memorial Regional Hospital: "I'm a maternity patient and I'm not happy at all about my time here. I come along way from home under impression that I'd be in best place I can be in here.but Im pissed and you had to share n rooms my entire time after and before my csection on top of that food wasnt great and made me feel sick and the corner of a room my bed was in each time was very warm to hot a d cramped. My family was not unhappy and uncomfortable to be here.then it was few issues with my care staff not responding in timely manner had rude tone in voice not all but one for sure and didn't want to help me with my padding and clean up as I told them I struggled to do and thus lead n csection cut to open and bleed give pain a could've avoided had I not been forced to tend to my own needs or ask my family to do what my nurses wouldn't .dont advertise great private rooms and fresh bake cookies and great care and help but dont offer it once for the patient. I'm disappointed and dont want to have to return.I want myself and baby out this place right away.this was not fair I got no privacy or comfort to heal and enjoy my time" - Vanaty
