Memorial Medical Center: "My wife is an RN employed at MMC. She was recently admitted to MMC for a surgical procedure to drain an abdominal abscess. Following the procedure our primary care doctor ordered a CT scan as a follow up. The scan was ordered through MMC. She has been in unbearable pain for over a week waiting for the results of the CT scan. She recently consulted with a GI physician regarding a colonoscopy. He advised against it until the results of the CT scan, this was four days ago. To top it all off we were asked to pay over $600 for the follow up CT scan because of some “deductible issue” with our medical insurance (which is through her employment at MMC). My concern is the fact that this could potentially be a life-threatening problem, but whoever is responsible for providing the results of the CT scan are dragging their feet. If this is how MMC treats a lifelong and dedicated employee, how must they treat the average patient? The problem isn’t with the healthcare, it’s with the slow, measured bureaucracy that NEVER takes into consideration the human side of healthcare. I’m VERY interested to know if the MMC CEO, Mr. Knox would abide by this totally lax attitude if it came to the healthcare of his own family!" - Michael
