Cleveland Clinic Hospital Stories

Cleveland Clinic Hospital: "Gastroenterology Dept- Would never recommend anyone seek diagnosis or treatment at this facility.
My story, my 25 year old son was very sick, weight loss (25% of body weight) over 5 months.... inflammation in joints, chronic fatigue, hair loss, throwing up and chronic diarrhea. Since he was a full time student finishing his last year of undergraduate degree in Fla, his NY Dr's connected with The Cleveland Clinic so that we could have a team of Dr's to determine cause of illness and then have a collaborative plan of care. WRONG!
We met with a Dr. Lara.... very nice and ordered all of these tests which were " apparently" different or more detailed then the ones we just had 2 months and/or weeks before. Because we were wanting to have the tests done in the shortest amount of time possible, he assured us that any one of his colleagues were more than capable of performing the procedures in the event his schedule was booked.
On day of procedure (be prepared to be part of an assembly line, one after another and another) His colleague informed us, "Dr Lara is leaving to go to the Ohio Facility, and if any additional follow-up is needed my first available appointment is mid July"
The date was April 5th.
Post-Opp....she gave us what her diagnosis was without even once having a conversation with my son or myself..... said "follow up with a local gastroenterologist" and she wrote a prescription. That was it! It took me several phone calls and emails and finally a call to Cleveland Clinic's Corporate offices dealing with patient care before Dr Lara actually returned my call to review all of the test results.
WHY would they even take us on a a patient if they had no intention of even being available for potential treatment!
DO NOT LET THE NAME FOOL YOU! Do your homework and find another place to provide you with the treatment and quality of care we all deserve.
